SCREENING OF LIPID CONTENTS OF MICROALGAE BY OPTIMIZATION OF OIL EXTRACTION PROCESSES

Currently microalgae are considered as an efficient biological producer of oil.Present study was conducted to explore the lipid yield percentage three microalgal strains Chlorellasp., Oedogonium sp. and Spirogyra Bligh Dyer, Soxhlet, Folch Microwave assistedextraction methods were employed for oil extraction. It observed that Dyer method withChloroform-methanol (1:2, v/v) gave maximum extraction (15.46 ± 0.240 %) Chlorella sp.whereas with chloroform-methanol (2:1, more compared toBligh i.e 5.53 % sp., 13.67 19.69 0.667 forOedogonium respectively. Soxhlet resulted in less (14.5± 0.45)percentage (16.7± 0.24). chloroform- methanol highest (30%) sp.indicating it contained content among all species.
